Eat, Drink and Be Scary!

Happy Halloween folks, well almost.  I wanted to show you all how we celebrate aka decorate for Halloween around here.  I did my usual decorating for Halloween this year, but now I had a new house to decorate.  Here is how I did it…

ggg7

I started with this cute little home sweet home sign.  I wasn’t sure where to put it, since it use to hang on a wall in out apartment I tried to find a good place to put it in our house, but I didn’t want to make any new holes just for a month or two.  So it ended up here…

ggg8

Hanging on our pantry.

Here is the table in our kitchen…

gggggggg

Like my pretty hydrangeas?

ggggggggg

ggg9

I also broke out our spider web basket where our fruit resides for this holiday.  I think this is my favorite Halloween decoration.

ggg99

Here is the other side of our counter, complete with a little scarecrow man on the shelf and a pumpkin filled with candy…

ggg999

Next up I got out my Halloween napkins…

ggg9999

and also my pumpkin salt and pepper shakers….

ggg99999

Yup, I have those too!

Oh and if you’re wondering if I have a pumpkin soap dispenser. Well, you would be in luck…

ggg999999

Here is a closer look at my awesome fall plate where we throw our keys…

ggg99999999

Yup, those are cats and dogs holding pumpkins, definitely my jam.

and the whole kitchen…

ggggg1

And here’s that awesome little pumpkin again…

gggg5

Still hanging on the mantle.

gggg8

And my two pumpkins on the tv console…

gggg1

gggg2

I am beginning to think I may have a little pumpkin obsession.  Here’s a couple non pumpkin decorations…

gggg9

gggg99

And to get back to the pumpkins…

I have a couple pumpkin pillows.

gggg999

Oh and hey here’s another pumpkin…

gggg999999And my other end table looks like this…

ggggggg

This is my favorite pumpkin of them all!

I also have a couple more spiders outside in the patio…

gggg9999999

and a cute little owl…

ggggg5

Oh wait… he glows.

ggggggggggggg

And lastly I’ll take you out front…

For the front I just threw some gourds in a lantern and bought a couple pumpkins, that will eventually get carved.

Thanks for reading my long crazy post about lots of pumpkins and a few spiders.

It’s What I got

I said remember that!

Just giving you some sublime love, but what I really want to share with you is what I got on my trip to NY.

As you already know I headed to the Hilton Apple Fest while visiting home and I also stopped in to check out Willowcreek Antiques and Interiors.  And I just so happened to have scooped up a couple goodies.  Let’s start with the apple fest

First up I’ll share something I gave you a peak of already….

photo 1(8)_Fotor

That is not photo shopped people, this is real life.  Charlie Bean is just this cute.  One more…

photo 2(3)_Fotor

Okay I’m done now, sorry.  In case you are wondering I purchased the bandana at the apple fest, I had the dog previously.  This guy was $5.95, so I think it was a steal.

Next up…

hh3

You’re probably wondering “what the heck is that?”  Well, it’s a lazy susan!

hh4

Justin makes fun of me because the table in our kitchen is a high top that is approximately 3-4 feet wide, making it pretty easy to reach anything on the table.  So this guy will most likely end up in the cupboard to help me reach spices that are in the wayyy back.  I’m really digging the different panels of stained wood. Susan was just $22 and was a gift from my mom for Christmas.  Thanks ma!

I also picked up one of these glass pumpkins…

eee1

I chose the green one on the right.  I think it’s time to get in the fall spirit! And why not with a crazy green glass pumpkin? Right? These were only $10 each.

gggg6

And here is where it lives now…

gggg7

There it is, looking all spiffy on my mantle.

I also got this little gem…

hh8

I love candy corn, whether it be the real thing or a little wooden painted one.  And for just $3 I was sold!

Now let me show you what I picked up at Willowcreek Antiques and Interiors

First off I had to take one of these home…

f1

I know you’re totally thinking I took that sick boat home, but I am talking about this…

hh5

Yup I was actually talking about the bottles to the right of the boat. I picked this specific one because…

hh7

It says Rochester, NY on it! My home! So I had to have it.  It now lives in my laundry room…

h99999

For now it will hang out in here and it may move from time to time, who knows.  I may even plop a single flower in it sometime. I know I’m living on the edge with these ideas!

Next up…

f3

I loved these as soon as I saw them, so I bought two!  For just $15 each.

hh1

I really like the little Lyon brand tag on the front, reminds me of my locker from high school, I think those were Lyon brand too.  Am I right?

h999999999

I knew exactly where they would go too…

hh9999

On the shelves under my desk!  I threw extra drawing paper in the right basket and in the left some magazines…

hh99

And here is my art room now…

hh999999

I need some art on those walls huh?  It will happen someday.  And see that little picture frame on my desk?  That’s another present from my mom…

hh2

I love everything about it!  So there you have it, all the stuff that came home with me.  Well, almost.  I do have a few things I cannot share because they are Christmas presents. Sorry, can’t spoil the surprise!

Organizing closets and storage

In case you don’t already know… I really like organizing.  I think it is important for everything to have a place, that way you never lose anything. Justin thinks I am annoying because everything has to go back in it’s place.  Even though he is pretty organized himself(thank goodness.)  In our apartment everything had it’s place already, but here in our new home that’s not the case.  So, I spent my rainy Saturday going through everything that hadn’t been touched since we moved in.  This is what I was tackling…

001

This is the closet in the guest room I have yet to paint.  Just a mess of junk shoved in a closet.  Next I will show the other guest closet in the room I have painted gray.  I didn’t get a good before picture because I had already started removing some items.

005

I had already taken out a bin and our suitcases.

007

So my first step is to get into those bins and find out what’s inside…

009

First up some random decorations and kitchen stuff…

008

and tons of extra picture frames that I didn’t even remember I had(sorry about the blurry picture.)  I sorted through, took some frames that I wanted to use, moved some things to the kitchen and put some holiday decorations to the side.  Next up…

011

Christmas decorations,  I didn’t unpack this bin because I knew it was all Christmas decorations.  I did however add a couple that I found in the previous bin.

015

Fall and halloween decorations, a whole bin full.  I did empty this one.

016

I found a couple odd items in this bin and also…

012

some Easter decorations.  I repacked the bin a little better with the halloween and fall things first.

020

I still had remaining room so I packed in the Easter stuff as well.

022

Next I found this bin which was full of Justin’s school and accounting books and folders.  Pretty cool stuff in here. I added a few other accounting books I found in a duffel bag, then I closed this sucker up.

026

The next bin had a little bit of everything, Justin let me know he had packed this one.  It had some dog stuff, some decorations, a cooler, a poster, some paper, a bag with cords in it, a hunting license and hunting hat.  I just put the items in this one in piles and moved them around the house to whichever room they belong.  I then took the remaining things and packed them into the empty bins.  I had picture frames and decorations left.  So I packed one bin with frames, then the other with decorations.  I then labeled all of the bins, so when christmas comes around I don’t have to open every bin to find the christmas stuff.

021

023

I then put the bins back in the guest closet, eventually I think they will end up in the attic but for now they will remain where they are.

030

It really does not look too different, I wish I had gotten a real before picture with suitcases and other junk stuffed in.

As for the other closet…

040

Neither look too extremely changed, but I now know everything that is in those closets and it is all easy to find.
