Hello Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!  A little late?  Shucks.  Well, here are some photos of our Christmas festivities….  Enjoy!

IMG_3744We spent our Christmas holiday with Justin’s family.  We had a great time as always!

img_0063We played our usual card game, Phase Ten, a couple times.  Justin won every time (he is no longer allowed to play).img_0076Justin’s mom got, both, him and his dad the same golf polo and shorts.  So, of course, I needed a photo of them being twins (they will both hate me for posting this, but it is necessary). img_3700I mean, is this even real?  They are so the same person!

I, even, coaxed everyone into taking a family photo.img_3741Look at all those Maces’!

Of course, the dogs had a great time.   And, you know I had a dog photo shoot!IMG_0465IMG_3723 IMG_3743Hope you all have an awesome dog to spoil too!  Merry Christmas!

Wall Sprucing

Since we changed out the carpet in our front rooms, I have been itching to make some other changes.

First, we received this bench as a wedding present, and it just so happens to live in the office now…

target slatted bench

It was on my registry at Target, it is the Threshold Storage Bench with Slatted Doors.  I think it goes well in this room, plus now you can take a seat if you wanna put your shoes on(even though we put our shoes on at the side door, we’ll just have to pretend that’s what we use it for).  I added a ceramic fish I already had to the shelf and also a couple fish pillows on top. What can I say? I like fish!

Next change was the current wall decor.  I wasn’t digging that we had black frames in these rooms with a wood desk, wood table and now a wood bench.  So, I replace the existing black frames with some new wood ones.

concert ticket art

signed hockey art

I kept Justin’s signed hockey picture and our concert ticket collages, but I did swap the walls they were hanging on.

green walls

Sorry about this dark photo, hard to get a good picture from this angle.   Since the concert collages were no longer hanging over the desk, we had a bare wall to fill.  Thankfully I recently received some bed bath and beyond gift cards and I found this guy on their website…

beach house wall art

It was on sale for $49 and I had a 20% off coupon making this bad boy only $39 and free shipping to boot.

living room office

And above you can also catch a glimpse of our new wall clock that was another wedding gift.

large wood wall clock

In case you’re wondering it’s the Threshold Casual Wood Wall Clock from Target, which was also on my registry.

I’m pretty stoker about how much homier these rooms are becoming.

Straight across from this room is our “second living room”, which was previously a dining room.  This room was also in need of some wall sprucing, so I decided to direct my attention that way as well.  I just so happened to come across a great deal on some frames at Michaels and picked up, oh you know, 6 of them!  Don’t judge me, it was a great deal, they are all matted 11×14 frames for $10 each.  I added some watercolor beachy prints to them and Justin helped me hang them…

sea shell art

I am pretty pumped about these, this may be my fav wall I have spruced to date.  Oh, and that little sail boat up top is a bridal shower gift from my friend Lindsey.  I totally dig it, and I may be feeling a sail boat collection coming in the near future.

I got one last frame from Michael’s that was also on clearance that matched these…

displaying photos

It was also $10.

This guy is now hung to the right of the window in this room.

light green walls green couch

I am now happy when I walk in the house past these rooms, as oppose to the blah-ness we once had.

Shall I share some before and afters?

On the day we moved in….

You dig it?

Just need some curtains and I might call these rooms done.

For The Guys

Since I covered what we got the girls for thank you gifts, I figured it’s only right to share what the guys got.  First up…

mens warehouse tie

What’s in the box?

groomsman gift tie

wedding tie

Oh you know… a tie.  We picked out these bad boys because they are what the guys wore for the wedding.  We figured we would foot the bill for them and make it part of their gift.

Next, Justin found these monogrammed wallets…

I think these were a great choice and I hope the guys loved them!

titleist multi tool

They also each got a golf multi tool, because you know all men need one of those!

And the whole shebang…

groomsman gift

Justin picked out all of these things on his own, so no references on where they came from.  Sorry friends.  I did however get to wrap them up!

groomsman gift bags

Look familar?  I wanted them to match the bridesmaids a bit, but different still.  Make sense?

giftbags

Boom!  Wedding party gifts done!

The Ghost of Christmas Past

Remember that thing called Christmas, that thing that happened 3 months ago?  Yup, I’m horrible and I never shared the great things I received that have now been living in my home for 3 whole months.  So, let’s pretend we are back at this day…

Christmas morning gifts

When I posed with a boat load of gifts.  Please don’t mind my awesome outfit and hair, this is what I look like when I am pumped to start Christmas day.

Anyway, I got some great stuff from our amazing families and I wanted to share some of those things with you.

First up…

buffalo wall art

See that awe-mazing bison art on the wall?  Ya, that’s from my parents and I am in LOVE with it.  Lately, I have been pretty into bison, I don’t know what it is, I am just digging them.  I actually picked this guy out and hinted(pretty clearly) to my mom that I would love to hang it in my house.  If you’re wondering, it was created by an artist named Dolan Geiman, whom I found on etsy.  His work is A++ in my book, seriously check out this dog art <– click it! Or this guitar art? I am pretty much drooling over it.  I got the 16×20 print from his shop and think it is working well in our little kitchen nook.  While you have been gazing at that beautiful bison, you may have let your eyes wonder and notice that I also got a new table runner.  This however was something I picked up while looking for christmas gifts(I’m horrible, I know).  I got it for only $4 though at Target on clearance! Woot Woot!

green table runner

I like to think that the runner and the bison have become good friends and I sure hope so, because they look great together.

kitchen nook

Justin’s parents got me this antique rocking chair…

small antique rocking chair

Do you love it?  Me too!  They also got me a great throw that lives with the rocking chair…

Antique rocking chair
You may have noticed a copper boiling bin peaking into my last post in this picture…

Mantel decorations

If you didn’t notice, here it is up close and personal…

antique copper boiler

I have had my eye on one of these bad boys for a while.  I actually called Justin and asked him if I should buy one while out antiquing the week before Christmas.  Thankfully he said no, maybe he knew all along, hmmmm.  Good thing he didn’t let me get it because it was a gift from Sandy and Kent.  Let’s take another look at my mantel complete with new antiques…

antique decorations on mantel

Next up, I got this…

lab painting

I could not be more in love with this print.  My mom got it from a gallery in Colorado.  Does it remind you of someone?

Yellow lab sleeping

Like my Zack?

yellow lab in grass

I had it mated and frame and now it is on the wall above our couches…

green couch

And since were on the dog topic…

Dog Doorstop

This little bugger is a door stop from my parents.

Lab Doorstop

My sister got me some great stuff too, but my favorite is this…

Alex and Ani Sister bracelet

A sister Alex and Ani bracelet, she has one too.  If you haven’t heard of these yet, check em out.

I got some other great stuff as well that will surely come up in future posts.  Merry Christmas everyone!  Three months late #$!?

Merry Merry Merry Merry Christmas!

I’m hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas!  We had a blast this year.  We spent our holiday at Justin’s parents house.

Zack refused to come unless he could dress as a reindeer.

photo 2(5)

I was so pumped because Justin’s brother Tyler was in town to visit.

photo 1(4)

This photo is a miracle because these guys are all rarely in the same city at the same time and even more rarely all let me take a photo of them! I don’t know why, they are all so handsome!

photo 2(3)

Char man loves the chuck it.

photo 5(1)

Got a photo of Justin and I also.  Don’t mind my face though, I think this is mid laugh, this is as good as it gets people!

photo 4(6)

Justin’s brother Alex and his girlfriend Shelby came too.

photo

The Hayden family also came over for the day.  As you can see Charlie cannot take his eyes off of Justin even for a minute.

photo 1(2)

Also don’t be confused, the photo above is Justin and the one below is Kent.  I guess they say like father like son for a reason.

photo 1(6)

And did I mention that we all have dogs and brought them with us?

photo 1(5)

Don’t worry they were all spoiled, here’s Charlie’s gift load…

photo 2(2)

So there you have it.  We all had a great Christmas and now we will start our count down for Christmas 2014!  We love our families so much and are so grateful for them!  Hope you are as lucky as us!
